Serena Williams does it again! Serena earned her 18th singles Grand Slam title and her third straight U.S. Open title last night. Williams defeated Caroline Wozniacki 6-3, 6-3 at the U.S. Open finals game along with a four million dollar check.
Williams has always dreamed of her winning her 18th single win and now hold the ties the winning record with former tennis fellow champions Chris Every and Martina Navratilova. When asked about her win Serena says:
” I have been trying to reach it for so long, since last year, well, since the beginning of the year. I didn’t really think I would get there. It just felt so good. “
I didn’t think I would play tennis again at one point. I just wanted to make it out of the hospital. and I wasn’t even thinking about tennis. I was just thinking about my family and thinking just making it out of that moment. That’s when you realize you have perspectives in life.It also means legendary, but I’m just Serena. “
Woziniacki showed good sportsmanship and had this to say to Serena following the match:
” You’re and unbelievable champion and a inspiration to me on and off the court…You definitely owe me drinks later “
Congrat’s to Serena once again for scoring 1st place at the 2014 U.S. Open. The tennis payer turns 33 this month.
