This year, the show’s line up featured School Boy Q, Action Bronson, Danny Brown, Ab-Soul, Retchy P, Joel Ortiz and Chris Rivers [son of the late Big Pun].
While time square was under attack from the severe weather thunder storm that quickly poured down an hour after the start of the show, the best buy theater had it’s own electrical storm hailing inside.
As a first time attendee at Peter Palooza I was impressed with the overall show and Peter Palooza t-shirts [shown above] . The show opened up with Chris Rivers. the young mcee performed hits from his ‘Wonderland Of Misery 2’ mixtape, followed by his father’s infamous rap line from his ‘ TWINZ ‘ track which ignited the crowd.
Retchy P followed next and conclude his set withe the classic ‘leap into the crowd’ at the end of his set.
Midway through the concert, Rosenberg received a birthday dedication song from Atlantic recording artist, Lauriana Mae along with a surprise performance by rapper, Joel Ortiz.
Hot 97’s program director, Ebro lent his support for his morning show co-host, and provided a little humor to the crowd after getting ‘booed’ for no reason at all.
Rosenberg’s received huge support from industry peers and family who were seated in the VIP and Backstage area of the theater.
TDE artist, Ab-Soul aka ‘the black hippy’ gave a STELLAR performance. Soul may have been a was a late addition to the show’s roster but he was not an industry newcomer, for New York fans. The crowd rapped rapped along with Soul as he performed line after line of ‘Illuminate’ ‘Dub Sac’, ‘Pineal Gland’ and ‘Triple Threats’.
Detroit rapper, Danny Brown delivered a phenomenal performance with his hit singles ‘Smoke & Drink’ and ‘Blunt After Blunt’ & ‘Break It’ among others
The highlight performance of the evening goes to Action Bronson and SchoolBoy Q who revved up the crowd with back to back hit songs. After ripping off his shirt, and while sweating profusely, the Queens-bred mcee gave an epic performance of ‘Slow Down Baby’ & ‘Shiraz’
Schoolboy Q kept the crowd jumping on their feet with ‘Gangsta Gangsta’, ‘Yay Yay’, ‘Hands On The Wheel’. Q closed out the show with a TDE collaboration with Ab-Soul ad SZA. The trio performed ‘Break The Bank’ and ‘Man Of The Year’
