Last week, I had the pleasure of  interviewing Hot 97 and WLBS radio producer, Vito [@GlobalVito] to get the inside scoop on what actually happens behind the scenes of radio. While many of us only get to grasp the familiar faces and voices [ie: radio hosts, the DJ’s] of top radio shows, we’re left with little knowledge of the the work that is done prior to present a quality radio show.

Vito was fortunate to work with two of the radio top stations in the U.S.  Vito has over a decade experience in the industry. He’s is one the ‘heavy hitters’ producers on Hot 97 [hip hop station] and he is also the radio producer for Lenny Green’s WBLS R&B “Quiet Storm’ show.

In the interview, Vito reveals that LIFE entails ‘taking a leap of faith’. Vito left his corporate 9-5 job to pursue a career in the entertainment industry and says ‘he has no regrets’. Vito had no idea what career path would follow. Prior to becoming a radio producer he was an A&R for Sony & Def Jam and worked independently with Capital Records. He later transferred his skills into radio production and joined Hot 97. He started off as an intern, and worked his way up.

The entertainment industry is constantly evolving so persons in radio production are often changing up the production of the show to keep on trend and cater to their listening consumers. As Digital Media continues expands radio producers become part of a digital revolution which is having a profound impact on the way in which radio is produced and accessed.

Vito discusses his climb, his thoughts on the music trend, his relationship status, and upcoming projects.
