Meet Taylor Townsend?

Taylor Townsend is an eighteen-year old American girl who won her entry card to join the U.S. French Open tournament this year.

Towsend first ranked #205 worldwide but she Vania King who ranked No.65 in the first round, and she also defeated No.20 and No.1  Frenchwoman Alize Cornet in the second round, making her the first American woman to make it the third round.

This was a huge win for Townsend. Back in 2012, the tennis star was asked by the USTA [United States Tennis Association] to sit out the US Open because of her weight. Townsend was regarded as “out of shape”.

And before you think this was a shade comment – think again. Townsend and the William’s sisters get along quite well.

Townsend was defeated on Friday by Spanish player,  Caral Suarez Navarro, who ranked No. 14 but this is surely not the last time we’ll be seeing Townsend. Get familiar people!
