Damn If You Do, Damn If You Don’t!

When Pharell issued his album cover for his new album “GIRL” he was highly criticized by his black peers for the absence of colored women on the cover. While Pharell tried to explain that each of the women were lighter-colored women and not white, it didn’t appease the masses.

Fast forward to present day, Pharell released his first single “HAPPY”  single which won over the public  and spawn  huge popularity  following his GRAMMY performance. Pharell debut his second single video and song cover  entitled  “Marilyn Monroe” this week and the masses are not pleased once again.

Similar to the previous opinions of his album cover, many people feel that Pharell dropped the ball placing a black woman on the cover and making reference to the iconic full-fiured white woman.

The obvious concern is whether or not Pharell made the decision based on the public force or whether Pharell decided to  exercise his artistry once again.

Over at the Grio they talked about how people are also upset about the Lupita nabbing the title “Most Beautiful‘ for their annual cover. While I’ll love to explain why the backlash is super RIDICULOUS  of the two – I won’t because I share the sentiment as the author Luvvie over the Grio.

I mean – What is about dark-skin that MANY people despise. I mean last time I checked everyone loves chocolate!

Anywho, here’s the video Plum’s, Enjoy!
