Blasphemy: Mase Congregration Refuses To Fund His Church Amidst His Return To The Rap Game!

Mase-2012

Pastor Mason Betha [aka rapper, Mase] is coming under fire from members of his church. The former mc who in recent years has made on and off music appearances in the entertainment industry [ie: Drake’s Toronto concert, Dr. Dre’s Pre-Grammy Award performance with former boss Diddy]  announced publicly that he is returning to the rap industry, and now his church members are calling him a ‘hypocrite’ .

” Members say that Mase has committed blasphemy with his latest announcement to return to the rap game.

Other claims suggest that Mase’s sermons in the pulpit are ridden with hypocrisy due to his music which proclaims the exact opposite of what he preaches – notes TMZ. “

Mase fell deeper into hot seat this month as word spread that he secretly attempted to divorce his wife back in January of this year. According to the court doc’s obtained, Mase filed for divorce from his wife of 12 years , Twyla Betha  on Jan.2nd and asked the court for child support and full custody of their two children.

Mase withdrew his divorce petition on February 13th [one day before the Valentine’s Day] and has yet to address the issue to his congregation while he continues to preach the ‘value of marriage‘.  Let’s not forget that Mase his wife released a book on how to build a successful marriage entitled “What Do You Do After I Do?  and the two have made profitable earnings from their El Elyon International Church and Mason Betha Ministries.

It’s safe to safe that Mase has probably reached his breaking point in his life. Back in 2012 during his interview with DJ FunkMaster Flex, Mase talked about his transition from rap to pastor saying:

” I thought I could do more than rap and I just happen to be right. I see different artists making clothing lines and people respected it. Rap has always been about using your talent for doing more. I’m just the one that got criticized for doing more than what was unexpected. I think I overachieved. ”

“…… I didn’t give my self any room to grow, I went from one extreme to another extreme – I was just ‘gung ho‘ about what I was learning, that’s all I wanted.”

Mase also revealed in an interview with ‘Sway’ in 2012 that he is not  worried about pleasing the ‘masses’. In his first attempt to return, Mase says he issued a ‘clean record’ on his ‘Welcome Back‘ in 2011 album, however it was not well received and he realized that ‘pleasing others’ simply does not work for him.

Back in February Mase unveiled a sample from his new track off of his forthcoming album Now We Even” produced from industry hitmaker Timbaland.  Sounds like Mase wants to tap back into the rap game as well.
