Hey PLUM’s, I came across a video from a you tube blogger named “XODVF” entitled ‘Know Thy Self: Melanin A Blessing“ while searching the web last week. The title grabbed my attention immediately and I took a full read and decided to share it with you.
Speaking to the ‘lost ones‘ of our culture, Ms. XODVF urges black people to take a deeper look into who they are and give themselves a true self-evaluation. In the vid, DVF explains how the culture of who we are is rooted in our blood line [one of royalty] and that’s is why were gifted with the ‘Melanin” pigment.
However, DVF says that many of us [blacks] are too caught up with the “distractions” of the media’s agenda to truly ‘know thy self‘ and therefore many of us continue to fall victim to a false reality of who we are and thus we develop SELF HATRED towards ourselves by skin bleaching, idol worshiping of celebrities, debt accumulation for material gains, and more.
To support her argument DVF calls out celebrities, Beyonce and Jay-Z as music ‘PAWN’s among others. Here’s a few of her excerpts from the vid:
On Melanin:
” It comes from a place that there is lack of understanding of what were talking about. There is a lack of understanding around the pigment… and I find it be intriguing because it shows the extent of how much we’re blind to the understanding of ourselves, who we are,…why we are, as we are… “
“ Did You Know There Is A Melanin Conference every three years they host?– said DVF. By they I mean [Europeans]. What are they talking about? You!…They’re trying to figure out how to get what you have. They’re trying to develop ‘Melanin’ for themselves… While they’re white-washing you, they’re black -washing themselves. “
She continues:
“ ….It’s kind of crazy to me to even have this conversation. I don’t know who created this teams and I don’t know who drafted these teams but I want to slap all of them… because
” To have young girls outcry on videos on social media about their complexion, To have celebrities or ‘PAWNS‘ [as I like to call them ] everyday becoming Whiter and Brighter! “
” Twenty-four seven there’s a psychological warfare telling you that your not beautiful, telling you that your are not good enough, telling you that you were made to be nothing but a whore, trick or a welfare QUEEN! “
” …..Telling you that you are nothing more than the equivalent of Beyonce or a Nicki Minaj, Telling you the heights that you can reach for, Telling you the only height of a man that you can be with or love is a Jay-Z or Two-Chainz. Aint that some bulls–t? “
” Ya’ll praise Beyonce more than you praise your damn mama! And it’s ridiculous. Stop praising this chick – she’s a PAWN! And everything that she does and the brand that she is, is a pawn to keep you BLIND, to keep you chasing their wealth, their experiences, their lives -and not focus on your own. It’s a distraction! She’s jet-setting on her own and doing her. She ain’t worry about you. Matter of fact with the little money that you got she’s taking it from you and charging you five hundred dollars for a mother f—- concert ticket. You Better Get Your Life Together!
” And on top of that you’re going to make sure that you have the latest lace-front wig on, the dopest outfit, and body contour dress, making sure you splurging all of that debt paper on a person who gives ‘NO F–ks‘ about you, your children, and your community. They’ve been bought! They have traded their people for wealth and fame! Stop calling her your Queen. Your Queen is your Mama!“
” You were born SUPERIOR! They’ve done a hell of a job telling you otherwise. And they’ll continue to tell you otherwise because [guess what] you’re buying into it and you’re believing it. Asking anybody, or me Why are you proud to be African?, Why are you unapologetic of your blackness? is insulting and rooted in SELF Hate….”
