Rapper, J.Cole has reportedly proposed to his long time girlfriend Melissa HeHolt. The two began dating during their college years at St. John University and after ten years of courting Cole is ready to put a ring on it.
While Cole speaks little about his personal relationships in public, the 28-year old rapper has referenced his relationship with Melissa in recent songs like ‘Power Trip‘, ‘Snakes‘, ‘Nobody’s Perfect‘ [feat. Missy] more.
J. Cole has yet to confirm the engagement but judging from St John’s Alumni tweet it assumed to be true.
In a recent interview with Hip Hop Canada, Cole explains that a real relationship and marriage are much of the same.
” I feel like relationships are a beautiful thing, period. Relationships can be really beautiful, they can be really hard, really rewarding, or they can be bad relationships where it’s really detrimental and hurtful, but that’s life, period. But then marriage is just relationship to me. “
” In marriage you got to go through the same struggles as a relationship, that’s if the relationship is real, because there’s a lot of non-real relationships going on in the world right now. And I think that’s just because of the day and age we’re in, a lot of these relationships are taking place over text messages, it’s not real substance. But when you got a real one, its already like a marriage. “
The good news is that Cole is no longer on a ‘Power Trip’ because he has reclaimed the love of his life. Congrat’s to the couple.
