Tamar Braxton celebrated the release of her first solo album debut “Love & War” last week [Sept.5th] at the Jazz room in the Soho district of New York. The sold out private event was packed with media socialites, industry executives and a whole lot of staff support from Tamar’s newly signed label -Epic records.  Attendees enjoyed shrimp appetizer delights, and courtesy cocktails throughout the evening as Tamar’s new album played along with a screen videos of her season two reality show debut Tamar & Vince [which premiered Sept. 6th].

Epic records music executive, L.A. Reid dished on how proud and honored he was to sign Tamar Braxton [whom he calls one of “extraordinary talent”]. Tamar spoke afterwards  and also thanked her number one supporter and manager, Vincent Herbert for taking a chance on her. Tamar was overwhelmed with emotion by the love in the room and personally thanked her fans who she said saw beyond her “multiple personalities” and craziness” on television and yet  took up an investment in her music career.

I got a chance to catch up with the star during the private media/press session. Despite public opinion, Tamar is very much down to earth and she has [what I call] a very “spungy” personality. One minute she’s calm and poised and the next she issuing out jokes to her “Tamartians” and ready to hit the dance floor like regular folks.

Tamar also talked about how she was signed to five record labels prior to Epic and was released from each one because they doubted her full singing potential. Just when we thought Tamar would have be given an “easy entrance” in the industry door given that she is the sister of pop star, Toni Braxton – We WERE WRONG!
