Oprah Winfrey is one brave soul! The media icon donned a 3.5 pound wig for the cover of the September issue of Oprah Magazine. Ms. Winfrey says that she tributed the hairstyle to many hair transitions she had undergone during her hosting days on ABC. Just a friendly reminder that the Oprah show remained the number one talk show for 24 consecutive seasons – clearly Ms. O had to free up her natural hair up at times.
In the latest issue of the mag, Oprah opens the discussion on hair. Like many women Oprah says that she has had her good and bad days of hair and thankfully to her hairstylist, Andre Walker she was introduced to wigs earlier in her career because [as she explains]
” I wouldn’t have a single strand left today – an unthinkable state of affairs for a girl with [no pun intended] my roots.”
Oprah continues:
” My own hair is shorter, not quite so spherical and alot lighter, But that doesn’t mean it never gives me grief. When it comes to hair. I’m in the same boat as every other woman. The way we feel about hair is universal. We love it when it looks great, we can’t stand it when it looks not so great, and we all want it to tell the world something about us. “
Oprah was so impressed with her new look she made her twitter avatar pic saying:
“Let’s Talk About Hair. Love This Cover So Much, I’m making it my new profile pic.”
