VH1 is bringing us a new reality show “The Gossip Game” [which is said to premiere April 1st]. The show gives us a glimpse look inside the lives of the women in the”hip hop” radio and blogging atmosphere. The cast all -star lineup includes radio personalities K. Foxx ( of theHot 97 Cipha Sounds & Rosenberg Morning Show) and Angela Yee (co-host of Power 105.1’s Breakfast Club), Kim Osorio (Editor-in-Chief of The Source magazine), Jas Fly (freelance writer/pop culture columnist for VIBE.com), Sharon Carpenter (reporter for Global Grind), Ms. Drama (on-air personality at Major Playaz) and Vivian Billings (NYC Gossip Girl).
The catch 22 here is that although these women work in the same industry there is STIFF competition between a few of the cast members as each of the women cross enemies lines to nab the hottest and latest hip hop stories.
Sidebar: Ummm -where was the memo on this show cause I know a few good candidates who [too] would’ve been great for this blogger type show. I so feel like VH1 stole my idea and spike it with a little twist instead. The blogging industry is just as GRIMEY as the music industry is and WOMEN must WORK HARD in order to PLAY the Game. Hopefully this show will lean more on the challenges of a woman’s climb in the industry and not the same oh CATTINESS among women. Can’t wait to see how this show plays out.
