There is an underlying feud brewing between Cissy Houston and Clive Davis. In Grammy tradition, Clive Davis went on and conducted his pre-grammy celebration bash in honor of Whitney Houston this past weekend and held the event at the same Beverly Hills hotel that Whitney Houston died just hours before last year’s pre-grammy celebration. Now, Clive Davis went on with the celebration last year and did the very same this year. While some artists attended the celebratory event [including a few of Whitney’s relatives] Cissy Houston seemed un-pleased by it all and dis-invited herself.
Here’s what Cissy Houston told Access Hollywood:
The mother of the late Whitney Houston, who died last year on the night of Davis’ shindig, expressed offense at having been invited to the record executive’s annual celebration, calling the invitation “unheard of.”
“I got an invitation to the party, which is the most obscene thing. I don’t know why they would want me to come to the party in which she died, you know? … I guess maybe he just sent me a copy for remembrance sake.”
Unlike Cissy, Whitney’s brother Gary Houston and wife Pat Houston felt other wise telling Entertainment Tonight:
“[Clive] was such an important part of Whitney’s life. I mean, that was her industry father, and he really, really was,” Pat said. “My husband and I will definitely be there this weekend to support Clive. Absolutely.”
Clive Davis seemed excited about the gala. As he put is Whitney would have him to go on with the show and therefore he agreed to upkeep the festivities at the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel
“She was this generation’s greatest, greatest singing talent,”Davis told E! News. So we’ll do something over the course of the evening Saturday night to show that. … It’s very much with me, and she’ll be with me.”
Sidebar: I personally think that Clive Davis should have at the very least changed the venue location. Honoring Whitney in the same venue where she died. C’mon!
