While making his tv debut on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop New York reality show earlier this year, rapper Joe Budden opened up to his mother and [the rest of the world] about his  drug addiction to the new hit drug “MOLLY” .  Joe publicly admitted that he relapsed on the DRUG last summer [2012] which resulted him in staying awake for days at a time,  losing an enormous amount weight, suffering from depression, and having moments of paranoia.  As you may/may not know, the popular drug pill of choice in teens, college kids, and adults is becoming more and more popular [even more so now that some of our favorite musicians [Madonna, Kanye, Rihanna, Lil Wayne, Trinidad James, etc] are making  the MOLLY reference in in their songs – Pop The Molly – I’m Sweating!

Joe Budden spoke with Lisa Evers of Fox 5 News about the dangers of Molly, why he’s speaking out,  and how he is overcoming his addiction.

On Molly Music Reference In Today’s Music:

“Now, everyone is speaking about Molly like it’s THE thing to do.”

On His “Molly” Addiction Last Summer:

“It just altered your thinking process dramatically and for a thinker like myself that was like nothing I’d ever experienced before. I didn’t see a problem with the fact that maybe five days would go by without sleeping. I didn’t see a problem with the fact that maybe I was hallucinating at times. I didn’t see a problem with the fact that I just couldn’t get up and walk some times.”

On Why He Chose To Speak  Out About His Drug Addiction To Molly:

“I thought it was important for somebody, anybody to stand up and say, you know, ‘I did that, it’s corny…I’m hoping that at the end of the day, it won’t be me versus the entire music industry when it comes to who a 13 year-old should listen to regarding drugs.”

Luckily for Budden, people who truly love him [mom, dad, ex girlfriend, Tahiry ,and others] intervened and he was able to  focus back on his love of music and debut a new album “No Love Lost’ earlier this week.  When asked about his road to recovery, Joe says  he’s taking it one day at a time.

Want to know why you ” Pop The Molly – An Start Sweating “?

According to Dr. Levounis.

“People get a false sense of safety and security with Molly or ecstasy. Meanwhile, what ecstasy does is give you long-term effects. Those long-term effects include panic attacks, and depression, and immediate life-threatening physical conditions if you use it with other substances [cocaine, heroin, bath salts, syrup lein, alcohol], which many users do, the problem really skyrockets and you may end up having your heart stop. “

Joe budden says that he is looking to the future and hopes that it includes a generation that loves music but rejects the self-destructive messages.

PLUM’s pay close attention – Molly is a DRUG and is jusrt as dangerous as any other DRUG of choice out here.
