Now if this ain’t sure to ruffle up some feathers once again. It has been long speculated that Whitney Houston and her longtime friend, Robyn Crawford – far right [whom Whitney often called “the sister she didn’t have”]  was in a rumored “lesbian relationship” up until Houston met and married Bobby Brown in 1992 . According to old reports, despite Whitney’s and Robyn’s ‘s denial of their relationship, Whitney’s ultimate demise with DRUG’s comes under the secrecy of her longtime guilt [of not being able to be openly free in her sexuality]  Post Whitney’s death, the topic of Whitney’s sexuality has come up again, and many people wondered if Whitney Houston was ever a lesbian and or in a relationship with Robyn Crawford. Well, who better and bold enough to ask such a question than Oprah Winfrey.

On Oprah’s Next Chapter, Oprah asked  Cissy Houston about the alleged rumor which she [Cissy] spoke briefly about in her new book  “Remembering Whitney.” In the book Cissy wrote:

“I knew I didn’t want Robyn around my daughter, and I told [Whitney] that. There wasn’t much I could do though. [Whitney] liked Robyn. She was past the age when I could forbid her from seeing someone. Kids have a mind of their own when they get older. They want to experiment with all kinds of things. And I don’t know if it was more than that.”

Oprah then asks Cissy about the L-word and whether she’d approve the relationship if Whitney was ever involved with Robyn, and here’s how that dialogue went:

Oprah: Would it have bothered you if your daughter, Whitney, was gay?”

Cissy: “Absolutely,”

Oprah: “You would not have liked that?”

Cissy: “Not at all,” she responds.

Oprah: “You wouldn’t have condoned it?”

Cissy: “No.”

Cissy also discussed the first time she was first told of Whitney’s drug habit [by Robyn] and addresses the “gay” rumors of Whitney.

Fueling more fire to the rumors was Bobby Brown’s open revelation in his book ” The Truth, The Whole Truth -And Nothing But ” where he too questioned the motives behind the initial marriage. The leaked excerpt was sent to the The New York Post and here’s what Bobby wrote:

“I think we got married for all the wrong reasons. Now, I realize Whitney had a different agenda than I did when we got married … I believe her agenda was to clean up her image, while mine was to be loved and have children… The media was accusing her of having a bisexual relationship with her assistant, Robyn Crawford. Since she was the American Sweetheart and all, that didn’t go too well with her image . . . In Whitney’s situation, the only solution was to get married and have kids. That would kill all speculation, whether it was true or not. In the short, I think I got caught up in the politics and ended up marrying one of the biggest stars in the world.”

Whitney’s Houston’s brother, Gary Houston also made a SHOCKING statement during the interview, stating that He [is the one]  that first introduced Whitney to DRUG’s well before she had met Bobby Brown.

“It was in the 80’s and everybody [in the industry] was doing it. It wasn’t a bad word  or considered bad – like it is today. We were young, in our 20’s we had money, and we were on the road so…. we got caught up, and it been a battle ever since”

Sidebar: Bobby Brown always did say that Whitney got him hooked on drugs – although NOBODY believed him.

There you have it folks, Whether Whitney had a secret past, was involved with Robyn, or married Bobby for for the wrong reasons – she had inner DEMON’s that she struggled with and unfortunately she turned to DRUG’s to cope/ and or escape it all. Robyn never spoke of Whitney once the two parted business ways [Robyn was Whitney’s assistant and creative director] but she did write the following after learning of Whitney’s death.

“She looked like an angel. When my mother first met her [Whitney], she laughed and said, “You look like an angel, but I know you’re not.” And she wasn’t. But she looked like one.”

“I have never spoken about her until now. And she knew I wouldn’t. She was a loyal friend, and she knew I was never going to be disloyal to her. I was never going to betray her. Now I can’t believe that I’m never going to hug her or hear her laughter again. I loved her laughter, and that’s what I miss most, that’s what I miss already.”
