Thursday evening {Jan.17th]  I had the honor of attending NYC famous SOB’s restaurant for and intimate live performance by singer Dawn Richard.  Celebrating the release of her first solo album debut :” Golden Heart”  [which dropped on itunes on Jan 15th and now available  worldwide in all FYE stores today, Jan 22] Dawn took to a packed audience and delivered some serious vocals. From her pop hit song “Damage” with former ‘Danity Kane‘ group  to her ‘Armor On‘ EP hit tracks “Bombs” “Scriptures” to her new album “Wild N Faith” and  cover song over Kendrick’s Lamar “B*tch Don’t Kill My Vibe” track, Dawn proves once again that she is a talented musician who can stand alone and she longevity spelled all over  her.

I got a chance to catch up with the singer backstage after her live show and asked her about the new album and her music inspiration behind one of her most popular tracks to date. Take a listen below:

On Her Favorite Song On New Album “Golden Heart“:

“I would have to say the title track “Golden Heart” , It’s one of those records uh.. it kinds sums up the whole entire album. Like if we can go back to the days where we were naive enough to believe that  anything impossible because we kind’ve forgotten that the DREAM  is REAL ..  and of course going over and sampling ‘Clair De Lune‘  which was one of my favorite classical records…. so it was perfect and I’m really proud of the song.”

And On Her Inspiration Behind Her Hit Song “Scripture’s” [on around the 5:30mark on the video below] Dawn says:
