By now you all may have heard and or seen the video [ that surfaced on worldstarhiphop.com] on thursday [Oct 11th] of a Cleveland Bus Driver who literally punched a woman [in an uppercut street-figther style] after the two got into heated argument on the bus and the woman putting her hands on the driver. In the video, the woman and bus driver spew verbal rants at one another [which included a whole bunch of fowl obscenities and profanities]. Just minutes the later, the woman strikes the bus driver with her fists and all hell breaks loose after.
The bus driver gets up from his chair, positions himself [as if he’s paying Mortal Kombat], and delivers an uppercut punch to the woman [which could be heard so loudly] knocking the woman to the ground. Seconds later the bus driver grabs the woman and throws her off the bus.
….. But oh it doesn’t stop there. The woman gets back onto the bus and attacks the man again and after pulling on hair for several minutes, he throws her down to floor while saying: “She want to act like a man, then I’m a treat her like a man“ . You can hear both the people who were filming and the woman [who was assaulted]yelling that the driver had no right to her because she’s a woman and noting that he was going indeed going to jail.
Police were called to the scene and both the driver and the woman declined to press charges but since the video has linked on the internet, Artis Hughes, a 22-year employee of Cleveland’s Regional Transit Authority (RTA) “has been removed from duty” pending an investigation into the September incident, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported Friday – says Fox news.
Now its, clear that whether this man was having a bad day and or was pushed too far to the edge [when the woman attacked him] he surely acted way too aggressively. But the question begs “Should the driver have been suspended and fired for his actions if he was indeed defending himself? I ask this question because the law states that no one has the right to assault another but what happens when one gets assaulted? Doesn’t the driver have the right to protect himself? Is this a classic case of the double standards in our society because this was a woman [who by the way was 25 years old, not a minor as folks reported earlier] and not a man. What if were a man? Would the driver have been suspended or would the act have been written off as Self Defense?

I’m not sure what to make of the video, but I will say ‘KeepYour Hands To Yourself” unless your prepared to deal with the consequences that comes with it.
