Brooklyn born soulful singer Krissy Krissy is making her mark in the industry. I was first introduced to Krissy from a fan of hers who repeatedly requested us [PLUM] to take a listen to her music and feature an article post. I took a listen to one of her songs via youtube and I’ve been listening ever since. As a die-hard R&B/soulful music fan, I am truly inspired by artists who are unafraid to cross “industry barriers” and just let the music speak for itself. Krissy is that artist.
The industry newcomer, recently interviewed with Brooklynbodega, where she talked about her album process, growing up and singing in the church, the choice of her new single “Dreams“, and her personal style.
On Her New Single:
“I had completed 30 tracks before this one, and I had no idea this was the hit,” says the 23 year-old. It’s another page in my story and one of the most amazing experiences in my life. It’s another time when I’ve succeeded by pushing past defeat. ”
On Her Background Of Music:
My favorite Fred Hammond song? “Jesus Is.” It was my first solo ever. We had a church show in Pennsylvania and I was filling in for the soloist. They needed someone to sing a part. My brother volunteered me. When I sang the song that day, it was the first time where I saw that other people could see that that people could believe in my gift…
“I became visible, popular and well known in the community. People knew me as the girl who sang at church, the girl with the big voice at the karaoke competitions, I was very visible in Brooklyn.”
On Her Personal Style:
“I’m a hard rocking, boyish girl who’s super chill. I’ve been working since I was young and know the value of a dollar…I still live in Brooklyn with mom. I have the same determination I had from working five days a week in a dental office. If you don’t work hard, five days a week, when you get your check, it will reflect that. Just like that, when it comes to my career, I’m going to reap what I sow.”
Celebrating her birthday and EP release, Krissy unveiled her new EP “Above All” and performed all of her songs live at NYC Drom nightclub yesterday. The singer reportedly ‘brought the house down”. Check out her new single “Dreams” below:
