Can Sugar produce disease is the question? Well yes more sugar and less fiber = Disease. Although sugar alone has no toxic or carcinogenic effects, there are studies that conclude that consumption of large amounts(more than 50 gm a day) of sugar can cause various chronic diseases. It is possible that in many cases, the harmful effect of sugar is primarily due to the lack of fiber and certain vitamins and minerals displaced in the diet when a great deal of sugar and sugared products are eaten. Below is a list of some of the diseases related to a diet that is high in sugar and low in fiber.

This promotes the formation of cancers. Additional study in Iowa(USA) involving 35,215 woman found that the more sugar one eats the higher the risk of colon cancer.
Bone Brittleness: A high fat, high sugar diet depletes the calcium reserve in the body. This causes the bones to become brittle and fracture according ti a study conducted at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles(USA).
