Medical Marijuana Initiative Holds Huge Lead In Massachusetts

Looks like another State is about to take the plunge and “Legalize Marijuana“.

During the 2008 election, Massachusetts voted for a marijuana decriminalization initiative by a margin of 62.8 percent yes to 33.5 percent no. From looks of this percentage it seems as though medical marijuana should will win APPROVAL this November by a similar margin.

According to Massconn.org;

A bill that would legalize the possession of and commerce in marijuana got a hearing at the Massachusetts legislature’s Joint Committee on the Judiciary Tuesday August 21st. While even the bill’s sponsor conceded it was unlikely to pass, it helps lay the groundwork for a proposed marijuana legalization initiative down the line.

“The bill, House Bill 1371, sponsored by Rep. Ellen Story (D-Amherst), would legalize marijuana and “establish a tax on the cannabis industry

The state needs to make money,” Story told her colleagues in the committee. “This would allow the state to benefit from marijuana by regulating it.”

Sidebar: Let’s not blame the reasoning for legalizing marijuana on the mere fact that the state  of Massachusetts has to make more money. We all know the facts surrounding medicinal herbs [that are naturally grown and used to cure ill patients],  and rather than spend millions of dollars to crack down on the illegal usage and selling of marijuana, the government seek to make a profit instead. If you ask me, this sounds like another strategy to build capital in Massachusetts.

There was recent poll taken in Massachusetts,  and the following question was asked:

If  Marijuana eliminated state criminal and civil penalties for the medical use of marijuana by qualifying patients what would peoples vote would be on  the legalization of marijuana?  Here’s the poll receipt:

Yes………………………………………………………… 58%
No …………………………………………………………. 27%
Undecided………………………………………………. 15%

Interesting! People What are your thoughts.
