Drake gets a “C’Mon Son” for this one. The Y.O.L.O rapper tweeted a pic of himself getting a second tattoo of his favorite artist “Aaliyah”. The tat features two area codes merged as one; the 416 numbers refers to the area code of Toronto where the young money rapper was born and the number 116 represents the month and date in which Aaliyah was born [Jan. 16th]
I’m not sure what the consensus feels about this but I’m not sure if I would be open to the idea of my partner having a tattoo of any other woman aside from his mother or grandmother for the sake of having it. I would most certainly questioned the motive behind it and would take closer look at my mate [especially if he already has face tatoo of a singer he is overly infatuated with and now wants to add another dedication tattoo.]
Clearly Drake has had one too many wet dreams of Aaliyah, and is somehow how to trying to reincarnate her in his memory. I can respect Drake for wanting to go the extra mile but this is way beyond FOOLISH in my book.
In related news, a new song of Aaliyah entitled “Enough Said” which features Drake leaked on the internet this week and while many thought that Timbaland, Missy, or Aaliyah’s was involved in the project it was quite the contrary. Aaliyah’s brother Rashad took to her facebook page to assure fans that his family does not support any posthumous of Aaliyah.
Producer Timbaland reported the same noting that “there should be no record of Aaliayh without his or Missy involvement. Despite these statements by Timbaland and Rashad, there are underground chatter that an Aaliyah album is underway and that Timbaland has been invited to assist in the project and agreed to produce two tracks of the untitled album. As for the current track out Enough Said” Aaliyah’s uncle Barry Hankerson [who ran Aaliyah’s record label] logo print was on the cover art of the released track.
The skeleton’s will come out the closet soon or later. The verdict is still out on this one! To be continued folks!
