[Details] Snoop Dog Changes His Name To Snoop Lion

Call Him Snoop Lion!

The rapper formerly known as Snoop Dog [real name Calvin Cordozar Broadus, Jr.]  held a press conference yesterday [July 30th] announcing his name change to Snoop Lion. Snoop who’s notoriously known for puffing the “Ganja” [aka the Bob Marley] says that his name was given unto him by a Rastafarian priest of the Nyabinghi tabernacle.

Joined by his family [wife and kids] Snoop says that he feels he is Bob Marley reincarnated. Say What!

“I didn’t know that until I went to the temple and received the name Snoop Lion from the Nyabinghi priest…. From that moment on, I started to understand why I was there and was able to create something magical in this [Reincarnated] project, something I haven’t done before in my career.”

I really hope celebrity name changes is not the new trend. Just months prior, Maybach music artist Omarion [formerly of B2K] held a press conference back in May announcing his new name as Maybach O. When asked the reason for the name change Omarion said:

“Yeah, Maybach O. That’s the new movement, man. I’m so excited. I can’t even express, you know, how excited I am, you know what I mean?”

Will just have to wait and see how Snoop and Omarion pan out with their new identities.
