Horsetail is an original medicinal plant, from a botanical stand point. It is criptogamous (grown in desert soil), and like ferns, it reproduces itself with spores. These spores are only found in the so-called fertile stem. which grows in the spring, and shaped like an asparagus. Though the horsetail has roots, it does not have leaves, flowers or seed.
