RECAP: 2012 BET Awards Part 2 [Winners & Performances]


It was big night for the Carter camp. Beyonce who was up for 6 nominations won two nods; one for “Video Director Of The Year (along with Alan Ferguson) and Best Female R&B artist and thanked the genre and her female influences.

I fell in love with music by listening to R&B. It’s the core of who I am,” she said, giving special thanks to Lauryn Hill, Mary J. Blige and “Whitney Houston, my angel

Nicki Minaj performed “Champion” and “Beez In The Trap” featuring rapper, 2 Chainz. Cleatly, Nick felt she had something to prove [since her hiatus from the 2012 Hot 97 Summer Jam Concert], hence the reason for the both song choices and performance style. Nicki sustain her “hood swagged” all night and towards the end her acceptance speech:

I really, really appreciate BET for keeping this category alive, and I appreciate all the female rappers doing their thing, past, present and future, then she belts out loudly: Step Ya D*ck Up! .

Sidebar: Really? Dismissing and/or Erasing your “Etiquette” especially at Awards shows is surely not a good thing?

Maybach Music. The censor police was all over these songs. They got the memo early but they surely missed a couple curse words that slipped out here and there during the live performance. Rapper, Wale also won best collaboration for his hit song “Lotus Flower Bomb” featuring Miguel
