We Can Agree To Disagree!
Oprah and 50 cent finally had a sit-down to clear the air between the two. Fifty took aim at the TV host back in 2009 when [as fifty puts] Oprah began taking aim at rap culture. Oprah rewinded that moment fo the audience and asked fifty where his feelings had derived him and why he then chose to slant negative insults at her while noting that she caters to an all-white audience and is foreign to the culture in which he was brought up.
I would see moments where you discuss your feelings on the culture [rap culture] and everything that was wrong with the culture was what was on my CD and was like Ah she doesn’t like me… Oprah interjects: You talking about the N-Word, Masagonists, Views Against Women, Violence… Fifty comes back: Yeah all of those things…in that case I was like damn she don’t like me because Im looking at it like there’s so many different impressions and different points and not to say that those things are wrong but if I can’t be your friend at least let me be your enemy so I can co-exist..
Oprah responded very diplomatically of course, noting that she rarely pays attention to those of whom that dislike her.
That’s interesting… I don’t spend a lot of time looking at people who don’t like me, but I did hear that you said something like… ‘I had white women in my audience that were as old as your grandmother… I felt that that was a pointed criticism.
Fifty then pointed out to Oprah that many kids have different interests that may not be of the same as their parents and or in the tradition of which they were brought up yet music [rock ‘n’ roll, rap, etc] gives them that outlet to be rebellious, and creatively free in their expression.
The rest of the conversation was centered around fifty cent’s dog [whom he named Oprah] and the controversy of it all, whether or not fifty has been in love, fifty’s concept of pray vs. worry, and his softer side with he shows often to his grandmother.
