Will She Return?
Similar to Nicki Minaj [who deleted her twitter account w/o warning to her 11 million followers back in April] rapper Azaelia Banks has done the same. On Friday [June 8th] the harlem rapper announced to her fans that she was leaving the twitter-verse for good and leaving the rap game as well.
Banks [who has the UK hit song “212”] reveals that the pressure of social media and the harsh criticisms of others have weighed heavily on her decision and she feels as though she has her made herself “way too accessible” for her fans and haters. Banks later reveals that fans can catch her via tumbler account ONLY. As for being a rapper, Banks says she’d rather be a dancer instead.
No longer wishing to be a rapper i never was…. and as soon as i started paying attention to bullshit urban media, i started getting myself in trouble. From now on i’m a vocalist, and will not be associating myself with the “rap game”… or whatever the fuck that means… no more twitter for me… it makes me entirely too accessible. Catch me on tumblr… it’ll be more interesting
I’m still going to rap…. i just don’t want the label and all the other crap that comes with the “rap game”… it’s boring. rather be a dance artist.. lol
Clearly Banks is experiencing the pressure of the music industry and maybe having a meltdown moment, but is this her best move?
The rapper has been dealing with alot of drama lately. Her public beef with rapper Iggy Azalea, T.I. and Lil Kim hasn’t propped her many votes and her recent departure from her manager Troy Carter [aka Lady Gaga’s manager] whom Banks worked with for the past two months has also caused some unexpected negative press forcing Banks to seek a female manager [which she announced on twitter prior to deleting her account]:
I know who you are yes…You short bald man…I know you planted these false stories.
Guess what?: I’m still not going to let you manage me again. I’ve dealt with enough cyber bullying to see right thru this.
I will definitely be working BY MYSELF and saving MY 20% On management commissions while I avoid you sharks in the water….
I really want a female manager. Women are just so much smarter.
I just want a really hardcore woman…Or a really gay man as my manager…You other n-ggas have WAY too much ego sh-t with y’all.
I just need a lady with some really intimidating glasses and a crazy shoe game to just stomp all you phonies out!
Lol I’m dead serious tho…About not hiring another male manager. The next manager you all see will be the kuniest kunt ever.
It’s clear that Banks is not going to throw in the towel at the rap game just yet but maybe Banks should meet up with Nicki Minaj for a brunch date? Nicki realized her power real quick and she returned to twitter a week later after she departed.
