Samuel Jackson Will Host This Year’s 2012 BET Awards. Kanye West, Beyonce, And Chris Brown Lead In Nominations

Are You Ready For The BET Awards!

Well, ready or not here they come! BET has just announced a few details surround this years award ceremony which will be held at the Nokia Kodack Theaters in Los Angeles [once again].

Samuel L. Jackson has been chosen to host the annual show. Legendary soul/funk group Frankie Beverly & Maze  will presented with the Cadillac Lifetime Achievement Award. A press conference was held yesterday in New York City where the nominees were read. Big Sean [Kanye artist], ASAP rocky [harlem rapper], Astro [of X-Factor show] and Melanie Fiona [who is managed by Rocnation] and Maybach Music producer front man DJ Khaled came out to help read the nominee list.

Kanye West, Beyonce and Chris Brown are the lead nominees at this year’s ceremony. Kanye is up for 8 nominations. Six of them include his collaborative hit songs with Jay-Z  on the  ‘Throne’ album. Beyonce received 4 nod’s for Best Video Director [which she competes with Ye], Video Of The Year [Love On Top] , Best Collaboration [Party feat. J. Cole] and Bests Female R&B artist. Chris Brown snatched up 3 nod’s for Best Video Director, Viewer’s Choice Awards and Best R&B Male Artist.

Briana Perry  [ the one with the hit song  “Marilyn Monroe” which I like] landed in the category of Nicki Minaj, Trina, and rapper Diamond for Best Female Rapper. That should be interesting!  Diggy Simmons, Big Sean, Meek Millz, ASAP Rocky, Future compete for Best New Artist.

Check out the  nominee list below:

BET has already confirmed Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj  as performers for the evening. That tells us that Nicki will more than likely be performing her commercial hit’s  “Right By My Side”  [her new single which features Brown] but she just might add her other hit single “Starships” [which Nicki affirms is NOT POP record] to the performance Yeah Ok! . Clearly, Deborah Lee [CEO of BET] ain’t approving a “Beez In The Trap” on live television. The Poli-tricks! .

On the downside, Since Rocsi and Terrence J announced their departure from BET’s hit show 106th and Park will they be hosting the red carpet interviews this year or will BET use this platform to introduce their new protege’s [similar to what they did when replacing correspondents Free and AJ]

Sidebar: Based on the nominee chart below [if Rocnation take home enough], LiveNation will be putting together another concert but this time it will be titled “Maintaining The Throne” instead.
