Jill Scott Spectacular Performance On VH1’s: Storytellers!

Jill Scott Is A Talented Muscian!

For years I wondered why people always put Jill Scott in the neo-soul box. This woman is an all around musician and her music is essential and relevant in today’s world just as it was revered back in the 70’s and 80’s. Last night Vh1 premiered it’s music series “Storytellers” and Jill Scott was the first feature of their series and boy did she set the bar high with her performance.

Backed by a live band and acoustic melodic sounds, Jill gave her audience Jazz, R&B, Soul, Pop, Opera [Yes Jill sang Opera too] with a mix of spoken word peotry raps Jill gave a concert performance in just 30 minutes and that was just one element of the show. The other hald was the story telling aspect. Jill dressed up in a variety of characters [the nerdy school girl, the round away urban girl, the foolish woman, and the grown-up mature woman] which corresponded with her music and the messages of her songs as well.

Check out a few of her performances below:

Jill Scott sings: ‘You Love Me’ in Lyzel In E Flat. That’s  Opera and Spanish  ya’ll.

Jill Scott sings: “Quick” . In this song Jill sings about w quick ending relationship where it’s suddenly over meanwhile you thinking eternity with your mate and never imagining it to be over.

It was so, quick/The way that it happened/Quick, the way that you left me/Quick, can’t believe it’s over, can’t believe it’s over now/I loved you/I really loved you/Can’t believe that’s its over/Can’t believe that we would ever split

Jill Scott sings ‘Come See Me’

It’s crazy how honest you have to be in order to write a song. You have to literally open up your guts and allow them to pour out onto paper and you cannot care if somebody like’s it or if anybody hears it. You do it because you have to. It’s A Must! It’s Mandatory!

Watch Jill sing ‘The Fact Is: We Need You’. A song written for the Fathers, Uncles, Sons, And Brothers, of the world. In the song Jill talks about the importance of having that male representative/role model in the household despite how independent or successful a woman becomes.

I Wrote This Song For Alot Of people; Not Just Women!

Watch: Jill sing “The Way”. Jill kills this performance!
