An Annular Solar Eclipse will be seen this Sunday May 20- 2012, from one of the 154 national state park in the United States. This mean the sun will vanish behind the moon for the first time in history over the United States. Astronomy lovers will be in their element to watch such a historic eclipse in America. The Eastern countries will be exempt, because the eclipse take place in late afternoon on May 20 throughout North America, and viewers in Asia will be able to see it on the following day May-21.
According to the News, over the course of the solar eclipse, the sun won’t vanish completely, but will remain as a ring around the moon for what is known as an annular eclipse. When the eclipse occurs, the moon will be near its most distant point from Earth, making it appear smaller in the sky and thus unable to block the entire sun. But it will still be a stunning sight.
The photos above shows a sequence of annular eclipse passing between Earth and the Sun on January 26-2009 from Bandar Lampung in Indonesia.
