Whitney Houston Family Lands Reality Show On LifeTime

It’s Official!

Over the weekend, Liftetime network has announced that a reality show entitled “The Houston Family Chronicles” is under development and will premiere in the fall of this year. The show will star Whitney’s sister-in-law/assistant Pat Houston, her husband [which is Whitney’s brother] Gary Houston, their daughter Rayah Houston, and Whitney sole heir Bobbi-Kristina. Dionne Warwick and Cissy Houston has also signed on to make a few appearances here and there. The show’s premise will focus on Whitney’s family as they try to pick up the pieces of their lives while still coping with the sudden loss of Whitney’s untimely death.

Sidebar: I smelled this realty show coming from a mile away. and I must add that I’ll be watching for this reason in particular. Now, Lifetime states that the show will center mostly on Pat and Gary Houston as they try to raise their teenage daughter Rayah. However, the show will also show [Pat Houston, Gary Houston, Dionne, and Cissy] working together to keep Bobbi-Kris on the straight and narrow as well. Hmm?

For some odd reason I thought the premise would be the opposite [center around Bobbi-Kris mostly] but then again reality show’s favor the younger casts so it’s a no-brainer why Cissy and Dionne would play second to Pat and Gary. I wonder who proposed the reality show idea?

“A mother to her own teenage daughter, Rayah, Pat understands the difficulty of raising a young woman in a world where social media and peer pressure are the norm. As she tries to guide her own daughter into womanhood, Pat also has the responsibility of raising Bobbi Kristina, who, while trying to move forward with life and make decisions about her future, must also learn to cope with such a devastating loss,” the show’s description reads.

Lifetime says the series will show Pat and Gary as they “take on their greatest challenge, supporting and guiding Bobbi Kristina as she faces the world alone, without the one person she relied on the most -her mother.”

Pat Houston has released a statement saying that she had originally pitched the idea to producers years prior.

I have been working with [producers] Simmons-Shelley over the past few years developing a project suitable for myself and our family,” Pat Houston said in a statement. “The unexpected passing of Whitney certainly affects the direction of the show. However, it is my hope that others will be enlightened as they watch our family heal and move forward.

Interesting how the show was put on the shelf for years and now Whitney passes and everyone want’s a piece of the pie? Hmm, Hmm, Hmm?  I guess producers is hoping to unleash other diaries in “The Houston Family Chronicles”. Unlike many other reality show’s,  I really hope this show will breed a positive message.
