MoMoney, Mo Money, Mo money!
Shaunie O’neal has partnered up with Tracy Edmonds [film producer and former wife of ‘baby face’ edmonds] to film a movie sequel of the VH1 reality hit show “Basketballwives”.
According to Variety: “Fox Searchlight has acquired an untitled pitch from ‘Jumping the Broom’ producer Tracey Edmonds and ‘Basketball Wives’ star Shaunie O’Neal. ‘Broom’ scribe Elizabeth Hunter will pen the script, with Edmonds and O’Neal producing under the former’s Our Stories Films banner. Shingle’s Glendon Palmer and Phil Robinson will exec produce.”
“O’Neal, the ex-wife of NBA superstar Shaquille O’Neal, executive produces and stars in VH1′s ‘Basketball Wives. Drawing loosely from the lives of O’Neal and some of her friends, the Searchlight project centers around a young woman who follows her boyfriend to Miami after he gets drafted into the NBA. Thrust into the world of professional sports, she meets the other players’ wives and learns from their trials and tribulations.”
The beauty of a feature film is that we’ll have the ability to dig much deeper into the stories and characters that come from this very colorful world and create a very juicy, action-packed narrative, Edmonds said, adding that O’Neal originally reached out to the producer via Twitter.
As stated before, Shaunie O’neal is about that paper, and she don’t give a damn what people think about her or her show cause she’s getting that “mulah’. I just really hope that the movie has a complete opposite story line from the one shown on television. We all know about the athletes and their cheating ways and the groupies, etc but as women were really trying to unite and the more we see a divide amongst ourselves [especially women of color] the more divided will remain. So hopefully we see something that we don’t know already.
