Bobby Brown has always been the ‘blame guy’ from the moment he hooked up with Whitney Houston, through the marriage [which lasted 15 years] and later [5 years post their divorce] when Houston died suddenly in February of this year. To add insult to injury, Bobby found himself back in media headlines following Houston’s funeral ceremony after he left just 15 minutes after his arrival.
While many people questioned Bobby’s absence, Bobby remained tight-lipped but this week Bobby breaks his silence. The interview that we’ve all been waiting has finally arrived. For the first time ever, Bobby Brown[ ex-husband of the late Whitney Houston] speaks candidly with Matt Lauer of the TODAY Show about his relationship with Whitney, the D.R.U.G.S, his relationship with Bobbi-Kris and why he is not the “blame guy” for Houston’s drug abuse or death which many people continue to assume.
In the interview, Bobby went on to say that he went out to dinner with Whitney and their daughter Bobby Kristina a just one week before her death and Whitney “looked really well” so he was just as shocked as everyone else when he received the news of her death. Bobby affirms his sobriety and revealed to Matt that he has been sober from narcotics for seven years and has never got high before meeting Whitney.
Sidebar: Now, wev’e all heard this before from Bobby’s sister Leolah Brown and Whitney Houston’s father who too sided with Bobby that Whitney was ‘getting high’ well before Bobby. I wonder what Simon Cowell [who publicly stated that Bobby Brown is the cause of Houston’s death] will say of Bobby’s interview now.
Check out the excerpts of the interview:
On Hearing Of Whitney’s autopsy report and Drugs being the cause of death:
“I was hurt. I was hurt … because, you know, me being off of narcotics for the last seven years — I felt that she was, you know, I didn’t know she was struggling with it still. But at the same time, you know — listen, it’s a hard fight. It’s a hard fight to, you know, maintain sobriety that way”
On people [fans, family, haters, etc] who blame him for Whitney’s death
“It makes me feel terrible. But you know, I know differently. I think if anyone ever knew us, if anybody ever spent time around us instead of time lookin’ through the bubble, they would know how we felt about each other. They would know how happy we were together.”
On public perception that Whitney was the victim of D.R.U.G’s [which is said to be cause by Bobby Brown]
“I didn’t get high before I met Whitney … I smoked weed, I drank the beer, but no, I wasn’t the one that got Whitney on drugs at all …it’s just unexplainable I’m not the reason she’s gone.”
Brown says Whitney was taking drugs “way, way before,” they got together. “Yeah … It’s just — it’s just unexplainable — how one could, you know, (say that I) got her addicted to drugs. I’m not the reason she’s gone. … I can honestly say that — I love that woman wit h– with everything that I am. … And I believe she loved me the same way. We wouldn’t have been able to make the most beautiful girl in the world — without love. And that’s the truth.”
Matt Lauer also talks to Brown’s three children, Landon, Bobby Jr. and La’Princia and Brown’s fiancée, Alicia, who tells Lauer they want people to know that Brown is not a bad guy.
No matter what he does, they just view him that way. They don’t — like, never really give him a chance – says Bobby Jr.
Yeah and for the haters, Bobby and daughter Bobbi- Kris are on speaking terms. Bobbi says that there is not bad blood between the two.
The interview airs this Wednesday and Thursday on TODAY. Make sure you watch and/or DVR it.
