Jay-Z and Rihanna will be representing America for the 2012 Olympics. The two have been chosen to be the headline acts in in the popular music lineup for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
While both artists receive top billing, Jay and Rihanna will be performing on separate nights. Jay-Z will be playing on Saturday (June 23), along with a host of international artists representing a range of genres. Other American-based artists, such as Will.i.am, Trey Songz and Flo-Rida will be performing on the same day as Jay.
Rihanna is scheduled to perform the following day, along with Jessie J, Lana Del Rey, B.o.B. and others. The event will take place month before the Olympic Games, and has been named by the Olympic committee as the headlining event for the Games.
The concert is billed as UK’s biggest free ticket music event. The U.K. is rolling out dozens of arts events around the Games, which run from July 27 to Aug. 12. Some have been long planned and some commissioned as part of a four-year, 97 million pound ($157 million) cultural program.
