We all have our idols that we admire and and look up to but what happens when you finally meet that idol and instead of inspiring you to keep pushinf forward in your dreams they crush your dreams instead.That’s pretty much exactly what happened to “The Big C” star Gabourey Sidibe when she met one of her heroes, quirky actress Joan Cusack.
On last night’s “Watch What Happens Live,” host Andy Cohen asked Sidibe which celebrity she was most disappointed by when she met them, and she told the story of how she ran into Cusack at a industry party — and Cusack told her she should quit show business because “it’s so image-conscious.”
What celebrity was I disappointed by? Oh, and it’s not in a mean way, because I know that she meant well. I met Joan Cusack, who is my favorite favorite — I love her — but, it was before I became [famous] or whatever. I was at some industry party, and she says, ‘Are you an actress?’ And I said, ‘Yeah!’ And she says, ‘Oh honey, you should really quit the business, it’s so image-conscious.
Sidibe later mentioned that she although Cusack was giving the “ugly truth” of showbusiness, it was expressed in a positive manner but nonetheless she was disappointed by the remark.
I wondered what Cusack will say to Sidibe now that she has earned the title of “Oscar Academy Award nominee.
