Mary J. Blige Responds To Burger King Controversy!

Chicken Ad Was Not What I Expected – says Mary.

Mary J. Blige is not to make media headlines unless its a concert announcement and or a performance at an academy award ceremony but MJB found herself at the center of burger king commercial controversy earlier this week. The singer was captured singing about the Chicken wrap meal at BK and the rest was history.

The commerical was leaked on the internet earlier this week and Mary received alot of negative press for her role in the commercial. Mary wounded up becomining the butt of jokes and it all became too much for the star so she has finally released a statement about the commercial controversy.

I agreed to be a part of a fun and creative campaign that was supposed to feature a dream sequence. Unfortunately, that’s not what was happening in that clip. I understand my fans being upset by what they saw. But, if you’re a Mary fan, you have to know I would never allow an unfinished spot like the one you saw go out.

The ad was pulled shortly after its release and BK explains as a protocol issue suggesting that copyright infringement and licenses could have been breached and therefore resulted in them pulling the plug on the leaked commercial but BK did reveal that the “final revised commercial will be aired”. Mary reportedly was paid whopping 2million dollars to shoot the commercial. Burger King backed up Mary’s statement and issued a public apology to the star and her fans.

We would like to apologize to Mary J. and all of her fans for airing an ad that was not final.

Clearly this was an impromptu kind of agreement because Mary seems out of touch, and out of place in this commercial. Here’s three reasons why Mary should have declined this job offer.

1) Mary is dressed as if she’s performing at a concert [the concept of marketing is wrong]

2) Mary is wearing dark shades [not good if your trying to connect and sell to a core audience] Mary shouldv’e appeared more personable.

3) Mary is singing about Cripsy chicken. [This is true buffoonery and they chose a black woman to use as an escape goat].

This is bigger than a commercial. Even burger kings knows how much the african-american consumer loves, admires, and enjoy fried chicken so adding a music verteran who’s loved by urban and pop culture seemed like the right thing to do in order to generate sales but this was a bad move on both parts.
