Tacky Marketing!
So a georgia chef of the famous Chops & Hops restaurant made world news this past weekend after naming one of his sandwiches ‘Black and Bleu’, a mocking of the Chris Brown and Rhianna 2009 incident. Richard Miley[CHEF/CEO] is known for making sandwiches named after celebrities may have gone too far with his latest creation. Miley told ABC news that he has no regrets and he is “unafraid” of what he’d done.
I was not trying to make a joke of domestic violence, just bringing light to the situation through food…I do not regret doing it. I don’t regret anything.
Riley made headlines last Friday after he posted the ‘Black and Bleu’ as the sandwich of the day. Here’s an excerpt of the ad below:
Put your hands on this Caribbean black and bleu sandwich,” the restaurant advertised on its Facebook page. “Chris Brown won’t beat you up for eating this unless your name starts with a R and ends with A
The sandwich was made with bleu cheese, sliced tomato, onions and shredded romaine. Miley says that he was in “no way supporting or encouraging domestic violence but rather making light of the incident” instead. Chops & Hops issued a statement of apology on Saturday and noted that the proceeds of the sandwich was going to a non-profit domesctic violence agency named ‘Project Safe‘ [Team 6]’.
Wow, Even restaurant owners are following the classic motto of “Turning a Negative Into A positive”
I’m not going to take it off Facebook, because I’m not afraid of what I did, I’m just trying to have fun with food. Some people like it and some people don’t, says Miley.
Miley also stated that the sandwich was only a feature for the day and will not be apart of the restuarant’s daily menu. Interestingly, Chops & Hop continues to promote the burger on their facebook page[as seen above]. I guess they decided to stick to their original commitment; after-all they had already informed the consumers that it was the special of the week and we all know that in business the consumers are the primary focus.
In have no sides in this manner. Who know Miley was probably thought if Chris and Rhianna can make a sexual record about ‘birthday cake’ then he can surely make a burger about their prior relationship too. Miley should really consider using one of their[ Chris and Ri-Ri] better moments rather than their worse instead.
