The prices of social media can be a hefty one!
J.R Smith knows this all too well now. The was charged 25,000 fine for tweeting a photo of his girlfriend Tahiri Jose [the former girl of rapper Joe Budden] nude rear-end on Fridyay March 9. Smith had removed the photo shortly afterwards but the photo had already scanned across the internet and creating a media frenzy.
Well, The NBA was not pleased with Smith’s behavior nor the photo I guess, and therefore they summoned him with a hefty-fine. Stu Jackson, the NBA’s executive vice president of basketball operations, announced the punishment on Saturday.
After losing to the Bucks on Friday Smith Smith made an apology to Tahiry and to all of his fans for his behavior to the press:
I didn’t know it was going to be as big deal as it is now, I definitely regret it. It takes away from our team. Anytime I do anything that takes away from our team, I’m definitely going to regret it. I get a lot of criticism for everything, so I’m not really worried about it. I’m just focused on the game. A few people talked to me about it, It’s not the smartest move. I understand that now. I just have to be smarter in my decisions.
And to his girlfriend Tahiry Smith tweeted :
Things are being taken (too) far; Sorry! @therealtahiri
For Smith, it was nothing more than a joke. He hinted that he was just trying to watch TV. Really? So showing your girl’s ass to the world was respectful! You a jackass for that one! But clearly your girl didn’t mind, so its’s fine by me.
It is rumored that Smith attempted to poke fun at Tahiri’s ex- Jooe Budden by posting an image of him and Tahiri in the bed together. Either way, it backfired on him and he still had to pay the price for something he got for free.
As the saying goes: What may be a joke to one may be something serious to another! I’m sure J.R. and Tahiri will keep their private jokes at home moving forward.
