Def Jam Protests Rhianna Song “Birthday Cake” Which Features Chris Brown

Don’t hate the player, hate the game!

While the world continues to hate on Chris Brown for assaulting his former girlfriend pop star, Rhianna three years ago, Rhianna reminds us all that is better to forgive and love then to love and not forgive.

The former couple released their new remix songs yesterday. Rhianna features on Chris Brown ‘Turn Up The Music’ remix and Brown features o Rhianna’s new single “Birthday Cake”

A close source of the record label tell us that Ri-Ri went against her label’s advisement and leaked the song to ‘prove a point’. Now what point; we don’t know exactly? It was suggested that the pop star wanted to show that controversy does sell and another suggested that Ri-Ri wants the world to know that she has moved on from the incident and forgiven Chris Brown as well.

Hypothetically speaking, a collaboration between these two would be an industry norm” at this moment. Chris Brown is at the height of his career with over 15 songs including features in just the past year. That makes him one of the top artist in the music industry. Rhianna has 20 or 21 singles that top the Billboard top 10 list and still reigning; making her one of the top pop selling artist to date.

If not for the public assault, Def Jam would’ve of been pushing this song through the roof. Former Def Jam artists have done worse and has not only been forgiven but were encouraged and supported to distribute more albums. Why? For money, for ratings, and quite frankly because controversy sells and they know it.

It’s ironic that Def Jam would take a stand like this when they’re practically responsible. Def Jam wasted not time pushing Rhianna back into the spotlight just immediately after the incident and her music career has been a roller coaster ever since. The good girl surely went bad. All of a sudden Ri-Ri was possessed with this rude girl image, her videos were more raunchy and provocative than ever, and it seemed as though she’d become un-fearful of anything. And rather than give her a break and allow her to heal herself from the humiliation, public scrutiny of the incident, and the relationship that she was so heavily in love and involved in Def Jam continued to play on her vulnerability. Why? For money, for ratings, and quite frankly because controversy sells and they know it.

SO NOW DEJ JAM IS UPSET BY HER COLLABORATING WITH CHRIS BROWN?

Give me a break! I bet if the ratings and popularity of the song grows this story will be pushed right under the rug and Def Jam will release a statement similar to this:

We hear at Def Jam met with Chris Brown and Rhianna and all is forgiven in the sake of music. We understand the severity of the incident and the impact that its had on people affected by domestic abuse. However, As with many of our artist old and new we wholeheartedly believe that every person should be granted the right of a second chance and we now believe that Chris Brown has earned the right for a second chance.

Can’t we all get along and move on!
