BET hosted its Annual BET Honors Award Ceremony last night at the Warner Theatre in Washington DC last night.
The BET Honors, which recognize African-Americans of excellence in the categories of musical arts, media, literary arts, service, education and entertainment, honored singer Stevie Wonder, director Spike Lee, poet Maya Angelou, the Tuskegee Airmen, track and field coach Beverly Kearney and pop star diva Mariah Carey.
Former Secretary of State, Collin Powell and First Lady, Michelle Obama was in attendance and presenters of the evening. Performers of the night included Aretha Franklin, r&b artist Kelly Rowland and Wu Tang Clan member Raekwon, Jennifer Hudson, Common and Anthony Hamilton, Ledisi,and Patti Labelle,

One of my favorite moment’s of the night was when Queen Latifah, Jill Scott, Willow Smith, and Cicely Tyson honored Maya Angelou and performed ‘Still I Rise’ followed by First Lady Michelle Obama speech honoring the phenomenal woman.
