We thank all our viewer who, ask P.L.U.M to run a post on this topic, we welcome more of your request on other such topics.
One of the most common reasons to have a bloating stomach is gas. Gas is produced in our bodies from all of the foods we eat and their digestion. It is a normal process and is required for proper digestion function. The normal stomach sits high in the abdomen and contains a small amount of gas, some mucus, and any food being digested. It undergoes
a normal rhythm of contraction, receiving food from the esophagus above, grinding the food, and meting the ground food out to the small intestine. Normally this proceeds is uncommon, except for the occasional burp.
In the bloated stomach, gas and/or food stretches the stomach many times its normal size, causing tremendous abdominal pain. For reasons they do not fully understand, this grossly stretching of the stomach has a tendency to rotate, thus twisting off not only its own blood supply but the only exit routes for the gas inside. Not only is this condition extremely painful but it is also rapidly life-threatening. It is therefore important to manage the gas effectively to relieve ones symptoms. There are only two ways for gas to leave the stomach, out through the beginning of that tract at the mouth or released at the end through flatulence. For stomach symptoms, gas stomach bloating is better relieve through the mouth by burping.
CAUSES: Eating too many vegetables, fruits or beans can cause a sudden increase in fiber often lead to a bloated stomach. It is advised to limit these food and later include them on your diet. Stomach pain shouldn’t last for a couple of days especially if it’s not serious. There are other possible causes of stomach bloating, Intestinal Gas, Constipation, Peptic Ulcers, Anorexia, Anxiety, Smoking, Water Retention, Trapped Wind, Over eating, Indigestion, Hypothyroidism, Premenstrual Syndrome(PMS), Candidiasis, Coeliac Disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome(IBS), and Ovarian Cancer.
Overall, the most common cause of bloating is overeating. Our modern society eats a lot of food, more than we should. When a person overeats, it causes distension of the stomach and impairs digestion. The food builds up and causes production of gas. This can also be painful, but it tends to be manageable. Sometimes a person can also suffer from excess acid production and have reflux. Medicines that treat the reflux can be helpful. But the more effective intervention is to reduce the amount of food consumed to a more normal quantity so that the problem is prevented from the very start.
