Drake Ex-Girlfriend Sues Him Over “Marvin’s Room” Song

Drake makes headlines once again!

Drake’s ex-girlfriend “Erica Lee” has filed a lawsuit against him claiming that she co-wrote Drake’s song Marvin’s Room”, promised 50% in royalties and has not yet been paid.

According to Lee, she and Drake were friends turned lovers back in 2010 when they wrote the song and prior to the release of the song last year they (she and drake) talked about her singing on the hook and part of the monologue portion of the song. Lee also provided text messages from Drake to her acknowledging her credit on the song.

“U basically made that song.” Another read, “It’s s–t without you.”said Drake.

Now Lee was reportedly was credited for her part in the song but not quite. The credit was given to “Syren Lyric Muse, an alias name which Lee agreed to receive the credit under.” Lee attempted to make a claim with the U.S. Copyright Office back in July of last year, but Cash Money beat her to it and had already made their own claim stating she was an ‘employer for hire’. Lee states that once the song had been released to the public, the cash money star reached out to her again via text again offering to pay her 2% of the “publishing royalties, but the conversation quickly turned when he (Drake) discovered that she had retained a lawyer.

Lee says that she received alleged threats by Drake via telephone.

“What the f–k is your problem?” Then offering her “4-5%” of publishing monies plus a $50,000 payout to go away according to the hollywood reporter.

Well, Drake is surely not going down without a fight. Drake’s rep have spoken out against the claim saying that Lee is “without merit in this case” Drake says that lee granted him permission to use her voice on the song and never asked to be compensated. Furthermore Drake affirmed that he never had a romantic relationship with the star.

Drake reps concluded by saying:

“It was only after she retained a lawyer that there was a demand for payment. Drake tried for months to resolve the matter amicably, and he now looks forward to being vindicated in court.”

Hopeful all turns out well and no major harm is done as a result of the lawsuit. Lee wants a judge to name her as a co-writer of the song and damages that include a “disgorgement of profits on allegations of breach of fiduciary duties and unjust enrichment.”

Drake and Lee are no longer friends!
