The 84 Annual Academy Awards aka The Oscar’s recently announced the nominees, however when the names were issued for Original Song category, Mary J. Blige wasn’t nominated.
This was quite a shock for the queen of R&B who’s song “Living Proof” features on the box office movie hit ‘The Help’. The Academy Awards usually nominated 5 songs in this category but they chose to nominated just 2 songs for children movies, ‘The Muppets’ and ‘Rio’ this year. Hmm? That’s strangely odd considering that ‘The Help’ received several major nominations, including Viola Davis for Best Actress and Octavia Spencer for Best Supporting Actress and Best Picture.
The singer was unpleased and weighed in her two cents on twitter earlier this week.
I’m so thankful for true fans like you all. It saddens me & feels like the Academy is being mean 2 only nominate 2 of the 5 slots is…
Mary later retweeted her fans opinion of the Oscar snub and wrote:
For this reason I am telling you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that it is granted to you, and you will [get it]. (Mark 11:24)
The song was very inspirational and touched many people in ways we cannot comprehend, and that’s worth more than a statute. Stay humble and keep it going.
