Attention all blacks, for those of you that don’t wear streetwear clothing, it is because your style of fashion has been inspired by white culture says French Elle blogger, Nathalie Dolivo.
Oh there’s more!
Dolivio also says that prior to Michelle Obama taken office in 2008, the black community were strickened to street wear codes; t-shirts and jeans.
“For the first time, the chic has become a plausible option for a community so far pegged only to its streetwear codes.”
Somebody must of slipped something in her coffee that morning. Because clearly Dolivio has not seen or been around any black people since her existence for if she had she would of noticed that blacks had fashion and style way before the Obamas took office.
To add insult to injury, Dolivio classified Solange Knowles, Janelle Monae and Nicki Minaj as ‘sartorial stars’. Meaning that they transferred their old style for more taylor fitting clothing and their style along with the rest of the black community dramatically changed thanks to Michelle Obama.
I wondered if Dolivio asked Jordan Nunn, the black model whom was placed on the cover of French Elle what her sense of style was?
Dolivio’s final insult came when she termed a name for ‘these blacks along with those of whom that have established financial wealth) as the “Black Geoise”. She then pointed out that although blacks have adopted white codes of fashion they normally add a batik-printedturban/robe, and or a shell necklace to maintain their personal style.
Many french people were also offended and outraged by Dolivio’s comments and as a result the article “Black Fashion Power) was removed earlier this week.
It is ignorant people like Dolivio that perpetuate the stereotypes and racism among all ethnic groups. These are the most unintelligent statements I’ve heard since the new year began. Hopefully next time Dolivio will do her research before she writes an article on her own beliefs instead.
P.L.U.M hall of shame goes to: Nathalia Dolivio.
