Red Tails Ranks Number 2 At Box Office; Raking In 19 Million Dollars

This news deserves an applause. Thankfully the snowstorms on the East and Midwest Coast didn’t stop movie goers from going to the theaters this weekend and director George Lucas work was not done in vain.

Some critics say that the movie took a nose dive, characterizing its plot and not providing a documentary approach of other epic events that happened during World War II.

Well folks, I say it’s not about supporting a movie because its an black cast but its learning history. Yes there is more to the story of World War II and their were many Americans, both white and black that have lost their lives for this country. However, the black stories often go untold and the fact that George Lucas had to put up nearly 100 million dollars of his money because Hollywood directors refuse to invest in an all black cast movie proves just that.

But black folks are to blame as well. I battled my husband to see Red Tails over Underworld this weekend, and although I didn’t see Underworld boxed at number 1, raking 25 million dollars. The point here is some black folks just don’t give a damn about their history and simply won’t support. They’d much rather use an excuse and say: IT LOOKS BORING or I’ll PASS. So when your own people don’t support you then others won’t either, and this is why hollywood directors won’t support movies like Red Tails.

Despite the naysayers, the movie is quite inspiring, so if you haven’t seen the movie and please do so.
