Although Astro did not win the five million dollar contract on The X-Factor Show, he definitely scored a big win with L.A. Reid. The 15-year old rap star, who became an overnight celebrity after his debut on the X-factor show landed a record deal with his mentor judge L.A. Reid over at Epic Records.
Astro is slated to appear on MTV’s Rap Fix later today where he will be announcing his record deal and diggs on when he’ll be dropping new music to his fans.
Initially people assumed that Astro would of went to Rocnation; being a brooklyn native and all; especially considering his love and adniration for The Notorious B.I.G, and Jay-Z but Astro says:
“I have never met anyone from Roc Nation. I’d love to, but I’m not signed right now to anyone,” he said during a December 5 interview. “Nobody ever hit me up about that — just go on the Internet and it’s up there. But I’m not signed, as far as I know.”
Astro went on to say:
“I just want to be in a place where I’m comfortable 100 percent. I just want to be able to release my music, do my movies, [and] everything is fair,” he told MTV News of his dream deal. “I just want to be able to have fun doing it. I don’t want music to be a job for me; I want it to be something I’m doing for fun. As long it’s not a job, then you’re straight.”
Congrats Astro!!
