Idris Elba And The Help Co-Star Olivia Spencer Win Big At The Golden Globes

Olivia Spencer was nominated for the first time for a Golden Globe. She won for Best Actress in a Supporting Role as Minny Jackson in The Help.

Olivia quoted Dr. Martin Luther King in her acceptance speech as an homage to her performance: “All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance.”

Last week, Spencer and her “Help” co-star Viola Davis took home Best Supporting Actress and Best Actress, respectively, at the Critics Choice Movie Awards.

Elba also won a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Mini-Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television for “Luther,” a BBC series about a troubled detective. He shared his excitement about winning for a smaller show. “This is great. We made our little show in London, and now we’re getting this worldwide recognition of it,” Elba said. “Love it.”

Next year, Elba will star in Guillermo del Toro’s big, ambitious, monster versus robot movie “Pacific Rim.” The actor has been in Toronto filming del Toro’s first film since 2008’s “Hellboy II: The Golden Army,” and he said he can’t wait to get back.

Congrats Guys!!
