Atlanta Housewives star Nene Leakes recently interviews with The Insider, where she talked new acting role, her new business ventures, her current relationship with Greg, and even dished on the Beyonce and Jay-Z. Check out a few excerpts below.
Tell us your new role on Glee?
I’m on Glee. I play a character name Ross Washington, shes the synchronize swim coach and she’s the nemeisis of Sue Sylvester who is Jane. She is very strong willed, very straight forward, she’s not afraid of Sue Sylvester. I met Liam Michelle, she’s very sweet. She came to my trailer… I met Chris, I met everybody.
Is acting your new thing now that you’ve done reality?
Alot of people don’t but we did a show called ‘Before They Were Housewives’ and I would come to Los Angeles for pilot season every year and one year I bumped into Robby Reed Humes who does alot of casting for Spike lee at the time and she was casting for a film called ‘Fighting Temptations’ and she cast me in that film and I was able to get my SAAG card that way. Then I had a small part on the ‘Parkers’ and ‘Girlfriends’ and it kinda phase out for me. I wasn’t getting any auditions anymore and I wasnt’ coming out to L.A to try and then I met the producers of Housewives of Atlanta so I’m saying all that to say I I say all of this to say that I was into acting before I did reality tv and I would love to continue to act. Whether or not I would leave realtiy tv, I don’t know, I can say its very negative and it pulls your energy down.
Can this also transition you to work with The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills?
I don’t if I would transition The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills show. The producers have never done that, Bravo has never done that so that would very interesting if they decided to do so. Right now I think the producers want to me to stay in Atlanta. I would give them a run for their money though.
Who are you dating?
Myself. You know, I will never have a public relationship again I don’t think. That’s one of the regrets that I have; is putting my relationship out there. Greg and I are not totally done you know; we are going through but who knows what the future holds- I just cannot pause I don’t know about putting my relationship out there. I do have secret admires though.
Do you have any others ventures?
I am working with a branded licensing company. Right now, I have wine brand out called Ms.Moscato. I just opened up my own have a restaurant out called Famous Famiglia in the Sacramento Airport and I hope to open other restaurants as well. I’m doing a lounge called ‘L’ which stands for Lenithia (Nene’s first name) and I would like to do make-up clothes and everything else.
