Thankfully this news comes with a happier ending.
Fans, friends and family are currently mourning over the loss of two great heavyweights, undefeated boxing champ Joe Frazier and hip-hop legend Heavy-D and more unexpected news followed this past weekend.
On Saturday Nov. 12, DJ Scratch (close friend of Eric Sermon) tweeted that 42-year-old Eric Sermon suffered a heart attack. Eric Sermon is another hip-hop legend famously known as member of EPMD group along with his best friend Parrish Smith. A few hours later DJ Scratch revealed
that Eric Sermon was in stable condition but made no comments on Eric’s medical condition and asked Eric’s fans to pray for him
Eric Sermon does not have an account on twitter but MTV News was able to reach out to sources close to Eric who reiterated the same of DJ Scratch.
“Eric is listed in stable condition but he remains in the coronary care unit.”
EPMD was at the top of their game in 1988 with hit song ‘You Got’s to Chill’ and 1989 hit ‘Unfinished Business’ and ‘The Crossover’. EPMD also presided over an extended family dubbed the Hit Squad, which included Redman, K-Solo, Das EFX, Hurricane G, and Knucklehed and forz.
The group split in 1992 due to financial restraints with their record label and Eric became a solo artist.
Our prayers goes to out to Eric and his family during this time.
Before embarking on his successful solo career, Sermon scored several hits–including 1987’s “It’s My Thing,”–with Parrish Smith as part of EPMD (Erick and Parrish Making Dollars). His first solo album No Pressure was released in 1993.
