Rapper French Montana seems to have caught the attention of hip-hop’s top MC, Kanye West. The picture above was taken this past weekend backstage of the throne tour at the Izod Center on New Jersey. A close source told P.L.U.M that Kanye is highly interested in signing French Montana and the two seem to be get very acquainted backstage
French Montana, bronx native aka “Frenchie” maybe a newcomer to the rap game but he is been involved in the hip-hop industry for well over ten years. Montana is most reputably known for his Cocaine DVD; a showcase of talented underground artists in the tri-state area.
Word quickly spread and French Montana and the DVD drew attention to signed rap artists as well.What started out as simply a medium for developing an audience quickly grew into one of the top-selling “street DVDs”.
French Montana began rapping as hobby and you would often catch him on his own dvd’s indulging in rap sessions. But was once a hobby suddenly turned into a passion for Frenchie. In 2009, French Montana caught the attention of rapper/producer Akon and was immediately signed to a deal with Akon’s Konvict Muzik record label. However, earlier this year (2011) Frenchie left the label due to album delays.
Close sources have also informed P.L.U.M that Frenchie is reportedly close to signing a deal with Rick Ross’s Maybach Music Group. But rumors have now surfaced that French may sign to Kanye West’s GOOD Music label.
It’s good to be French Montana right now. The deal looks sweet on both sides of the pie. Kanye West and Rick Ross are today’s biggest rap stars so what better way to jumpstart your 15 minutes of fame. Get em ‘Frenchie’!
