Black Girls Rock!!
Celebrities were all in attendance for the second annual “Black Girls Rock” Awards. Last night Black Girls Rock Awards premiered on B.E.T, and it was truly an evening with the stars. Inspiration, Motivation and Celebration best describes this event.
The show honored Academy Award-winning Actress Taraji P.Henson, scholar and political activist Angela Davis, gospel singer Shirley Caesar, director of the Rebecca Project For Human Rights Imani Walker and Malika Saada Saar. Other honorees included Tatyana Ali, WNBA president Laura J. Richie. Performers of the night include Jill Scott, Mary J. Blige, Erykah Badu, Melanie Fiona, Elle Varner, Mary Mary and Shirley Ceasar. Tracey Ellis Ross and Regina King were co-host of the event.
BLACK GIRLS ROCK! Inc. is 501(c)3 non-profit youth empowerment and mentoring organization established to promote the arts for young women of color, as well as to encourage dialogue and analysis of the ways women of color are portrayed in the media.
