Talk about a girl that knows how to make headlines. First Rhianna was slammed for her “Man Down ” video now this? Ri-Ri i seems to be getting alot of negative press these days after the release of her “racy” new video “We Found Love” that premiered earlier this week.
On Wednesday P.L.U.M. aired the makings of the video to give viewers a look inside the concept of the video but folks are still unpleased with the outcome. The video displays Rhianna and her ex lover(a Chris Brown look alike) in a toxic love and hate relationship. The two are completely head over heels in love with each other but for all the wrong reasons. The video takes viewers on a journey of that toxic relationship; depicting the abuse, violence, drugs, and the “make-up” sex that often re-fueled their “love” but in the end Rhianna “sees the light” and leaves the relationship.
We have all seen this before people? Art does imitate life. Rhianna is not the first artist to express her life experience in her videos. Lady Gaga, Brittany Spears, Eminem, Nas and Erykah Badu have all done the same and been ridiculed too and quite frankly they are unapologetic about it. Rhianna’s video’s may be too explicit for her audience and she can definitely “tone it down” but that won’t be happening no time soon. Ri-Ri recently responded to critics via twitter saying ” The good feelings of love and the dangers of it…its all about love and love being a drug…that’s what the video is about”.
